Listen "19 - Jason Kander's New Mission"
Episode Synopsis
He was the rising star who walked away from the spotlight. Jason Kander was running to be Kansas City's next mayor and there were whispers of a presidential run in 2020. That's when he decided to drop out of the race and confront PTSD and depression from his service in Afghanistan as an Army Intelligence Officer. Almost a year later, the former Missouri Secretary of State is back in the public eye with a new mission at the Veterans Community Project. We visited VCP at 89th and Troost in Kansas City for a conversation about mental health, help for vets and what it's like watching politics as an outsider.
