Students recorded songs on the instruments they usually play, and some students added tracks on instruments they don't play--but they learned a few basics and wanted to add the new parts. I encouraged students to incorporate a combination of parts they've practiced more formally AND parts they came up with more creatively. So you will hear hints of a bit of improv here and there.
Recording takes a lot of courage, especially when you're young. When that red light comes on, it can be unnerving, even if you've practiced. So hats off to these young performers--great job, everyone! <3
