Listen "58 - Joy"
Episode Synopsis
Kirk Reflections 10th December 2023.
Paula Roots brings today's reflection from Kirkliston Parish Church, Scotland.
Joy is our second candle to be lit in Advent. Our joy is not simple happiness: Christian joy is much deeper. It stems from trust in God and confidence that no matter what happens in this life, God is with us; Jesus who was born at Christmas 33 years later died for us. And he left the Holy Spirit with us 'so that your grief will turn to joy and your joy will be complete'.
This season of Advent is the anticipation of the greatest gift the world has ever known - God made man, coming as a helpless, homeless baby. Leaving His heavenly home to become the Saviour of the world. And leaving us the Comforter and Guide.
What joy is ours when we believe!
