While I can't say never because I'm old and may not remember way back when, but I know it has not been a focus in my recent past. However, it was so important to Paul that he instructs the Corinthians to desire spiritual gifts! In fact, he gets specific and argues for prophecy because it blesses others.Benefits of Tongues vs. Prophecy in 1 Corinthians 14:2–4 Tongues                                                                                          Prophecy speaking to only God (not fellow humans)                fellow humans intelligible to only God (not fellow humans)            fellow humans builds up only the speaker                                                  the church Tongues are not as edifying as prophecy.
