The Sword of the SpiritEphesians 6:17b, gives us our last piece of the Armor of God , “and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”While we have seen that the armor has been for protection, the sword seems to be the only combat weapon. It is designed to give the enemy a fatal blow. We see that there are two parts to the sword, the Spirit and the Word,  just like there are two feet to the gospel, the Light of Life and the Bread of Life.Hebrews 4:12 tells us, “For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, even penetrating as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” A two edged sword brings a double blow, one going in and one coming out.Why so severe?  And if we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, why does it seem that this is for man and not the devil?
