Listen "Walking the Camino with Jo Newman | Ep.1"
Episode Synopsis
My guest today is Jo Newman. Like most heroes, her journey begins by crossing the threshold from the known to the unknown. From what is familiar and safe to what is new and adventurous. Usually, some form of adversity shakes us up out of our complacency and we are called upon to act. Do we hear the call? Do we answer only to refuse? In Jo's story, her initial refusal to listen to the signs was met with an even louder call. Her mentor came in the shape of a natural terrain, a pilgrimage called the Camino de Santiago. And walking upon it changed her life. Perhaps we should all take note of Nassim Nicholas Taleb's advice when he says, "To become a philosopher, start by walking very slowly." TOOLS WOOP Flip the Switch Carpe Diem Journal QUOTES Attaining lasting happiness requires that we enjoy the journey on our way toward a destination we deem valuable. Happiness is not about making it to the peak of the mountain nor is it about climbing aimlessly around the mountain; happiness is the experience of climbing toward the peak. -Tal Ben-Shahar Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. -Viktor E. Frankl Walking is misunderstood, underrated. Nothing, nothing substitutes for it. And the minimum should be > 6-7 miles on v. hilly terrain. -Nassim Nicholas Taleb BOOKS “The Second Mountain” -David Brooks "Antifragile"-Nassim Nicholas Taleb CONTACT JO NEWMAN on LINKEDIN JO NEWMAN on INSTAGRAM [email protected] Caminocoach.us (coming soon)
