Has Tesla boxed itself in a corner? Musk has been promising for years now, and still no significant breakthrough in terms of self-driving autonomy. Not to mention the reported significantly greater reported sightings of Waymo vehicles compared to Tesla’s in areas where self-driving is tested and authorized, namely in California. There are also reports of Tesla cars being towed after malfunctioning or accidents as part of this self-driving rollout. This is a tough race, akin to the turtle and the hare, and it seems the hare (Waymo) could well outshine the hare (Tesla).
