Daniel shares that he was always skinny as a kid, but then into his 20s and 30s, he put on weight. This was when the yo-yo dieting began. He did Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, and counted calories. He would lose weight, but then gain it all back, plus more.In June 2018, he found out his wife was pregnant, and Daniel decided he finally needed to get his weight under control for his new baby. He tried to weigh himself, but the scale would not register past 350 pounds. This was a defining moment for Daniel. He knew he needed something different; a "long-term solution." He began listening to health podcasts and reading books, and found intermittent fasting. In the Fall of 2018, Daniel began with skipping breakfast once a week. After a month of this, he noticed that he "felt his best" on those days. He was then ready to jump into IF everyday. He started with 16:8, and lost 60 pounds by February of 2019.That same month, their daughter, Bridget, was born with Trisomy 18. Trisomy 18 is a genetic disorder that causes severe developmental delays due to an extra chromosome. Bridget lived for exactly 31 days.To honor his daughter, Daniel created the "Bridget Challenges," where he'd give up or do something for 31 days. The first challenge he did was IF with 18:6 for 31 days. Another was walking 31 miles in a day.The advice Daniel would give to new IFers: "Be patient. You'll see progress over time, and you'll get to where you want to be! Be kind to yourself. Stick to it. IF takes practice. Let your body do the rest."To date, Daniel has lost 130 pounds, and does a mostly 20:4 protocol.Get Gin’s books, including her latest New York Times Bestseller, Fast. Feast.
