A good bassline can be a standout feature of a song - I compare a couple of basslines from Christchurch band Yumi Zouma with some classic Cure from 1985. Speaking of comparisons - Minor Gold (Dan Parsons and Tracy McNeil) have a new album out and we hear a couple of tracks from it interspersed with 2 tracks from Tracy McNeil Band's 2016 album 'Thieves'. Indigo De Souza's new (4th) album 'Precipice' has been out for around 4 weeks and we hear 2 tracks that. Also new tracks from Melbourne's Ryan Olver and a couple of Swedish acts in funk / soul / guitarist Arc De Soleil, and hard rockers The Hives. We also have new music from Conor Oberst (teaming up with fellow Omaha native Stathi), Melbourne's Winter McQuinn and The National vocalist Matt Berninger.
