Cases of syphilis are on the rise in the United States. Chicago is also mirroring nationwide trends. The sexually transmitted infection was down to just over 30,000 cases in 2000, but that number rose to above 200,000 in 2022. To understand why, and how to slow this trend, we talked with Dr. Kimberly Stanford, associate professor of medicine at UChicago.
