Former Army Commander and Parliamentarian of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka responds to claims on a large defence budget, saying national security is the key for any country to prosper economically.  Speaking to Indeewari Amuwatte on “At HydePark on Ada Derana 24”, Field Marshal Fonseka said the collapse of the country’s economy is not an excuse to let national security to shatter.  He is also of the view that the military manpower of Sri Lanka needs to be strengthened since the country lacks advanced military equipment.  The former Army Commander turned politician, went on to say that he is ready to go before international fora to defend Sri Lanka’s humanitarian operation while urging the international community to seek clarification from him on any claims pertaining to allegations of war crimes.
