We often focus on what God has not done because we haven't seen what He has done. After God intervenes, we are often "like Oliver Twist," immediately asking for more before we even thank Him.๐Ÿ—“๏ธ ๐Œ๐š๐ค๐ž ๐†๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž ๐š ๐‹๐ข๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ž: Thanksgiving should not be just a monthly or yearly event, but a "way of life". We are encouraged to "count your blessings" daily, naming them one by one. This includes thanking God for "so-called small blessings," such as going out and coming back safely.๐ŸŽ ๐‘๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐“๐ก๐ž๐ฌ๐ž ๐๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฌ: Psalm 103 enumerates specific benefits to be thankful for:โ— He "forgiveth all thy iniquities," which is the greatest blessing.โ— He "healeth all thy diseases".โ— He "redeemeth thy life from destruction".โ— He "crowneth thee with loving kindness and tender mercies".โ— He "satisfieth thy mouth with good things".๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐“๐ž๐ง ๐‹๐ž๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ (๐‹๐ฎ๐ค๐ž ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•): The story of the ten lepers illustrates this point. Jesus healed all ten, but only oneโ€”a Samaritan "stranger"โ€”returned to give thanks. Jesus asked, "Were there not 10 cleansed? But where are the nine?" showing that God expects gratitude.โš–๏ธ ๐‚๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž๐ฌ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ˆ๐ง๐ ๐ซ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐ญ๐ฎ๐๐ž: There are consequences for failing to be thankful. Deuteronomy 28:47-48 (Living Bible) warns, "You will become slaves to your enemies because of your failure to praise God for all that he has given you".โค๏ธ ๐“๐ก๐ž ๐…๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐“๐ก๐š๐ง๐ค๐ฌ๐ ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ง๐ : The sermon concludes that the "beginning of thanksgiving that is acceptable to God" is having Jesus in your heart. Gratitude means something to God only after we repent of our sins and receive Jesus as our Lord and personal savior.
