In this episode of Hot Seat: Media Monday (11/3/25), Ron Klopfanstein spoke with environmental advocate Charlie Perrotta about New York’s Proposition One, which has since passed, allowing 323 acres of the Adirondack Forest Preserve to be used for expanding the Mount Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex. Perrotta explained how the measure retroactively legalized prior illegal construction and warned that it could set a dangerous precedent for future development in protected lands. He spoke passionately about the Adirondacks’ ecological significance—an area on track to become one of the world’s few temperate rainforests—and raised concerns about deforestation, habitat loss, and repeated environmental violations by the Olympic Regional Development Authority. Even though Prop One passed, Perrotta’s words remain a powerful reminder of the need to keep the Adirondacks truly “Forever Wild.”
