As we get older, we can lose our sense of importance. If we’ve done our job well, our children don’t need us as much as they used to. If you've retired or you're near retirement age, you can also lose your sense of importance at work. All of this can lead to depression and feelings of insignificance. Yet, the Bible gives us a path for fruitfulness even in old age. The Proverbs tells us the path of righteous winds upward and grows brighter and brighter - it's does dim and fade to black.
