Today in Orthodoxy we commemorate Saint Luke the Evangelist, whose Gospel emphasizes repentance. In Saint Luke’s Gospel we hear about the thief on the cross and how Christ accepts his sincere repentance at the eleventh hour. Father Gregory shares with us a personal account of repentance he witnessed in the life his Presvytera Pelagia’s grandfather. Saint Luke is remembered for many things including the evangelist of forgiveness and repentance, the first iconographer and a companion of Saint Paul.
