Welcome to the hit makers podcast. I want to talk about a girl group from Oakland California which achieved mainstream success during the 1970s and 1980s. They are the Pointer Sisters. There were four sisters: June Pointer, Bonnie Pointer, Anita Pointer, and Ruth Pointer. Bonnie left the group and went solo. You may remember her hit Heaven Must Have Sent You which became a US top 20 pop hit on September 1, 1979.The girl group genres are plentiful: R&B, pop jazz, electronic music, bebop, blues, soul, funk, dance, country, and rock. The Pointer Sisters have won three Grammy Awards and receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994. The group had 13 US top 20 hits between 1973 and 1985.The first time I heard the Pointer Sisters is when I heard their hit song Fire in 1979. Then after that, He's So Shy in 1980. The song had an outstanding keyboard and synthesizer sound. It was very noticeable to me and different than most of the songs I heard during that time.Whenever I saw the Pointer Sisters, their song He's So Shy was the first song that would come to my mind.
