When Christ was preparing to enter into the crushing weight of the cross, He makes a statement to His disciples:“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41The Greek word for "watch" is (grēgoreō), which means to be vigilant or to stay awake. In the context of this verse, Jesus is urging His disciples to remain spiritually alert.The call to "watch" is a reminder for believers to be constantly aware of spiritual dangers and to guard against complacency.Prayer is a weapon we have been given to wage war in the heavenlies, to push back the schemes of satan and advance the Kingdom of God.The commandments to pray abound throughout Scripture. God has woven the pages of the Bible with invitations to see victory and breakthrough in our own lives, in others and in the land we live.When the church starts praying, chains start breaking.
