Listen "Water Cooler Conversations with Eric Ryan"
Episode Synopsis
This is WATER COOLER CONVERSATIONS, a compilation of opinions about work - including so-called ‘LinkedIn for dating’, intimacy with coworkers, and pop culture hot topics. What is appropriate to talk about at work, and what are the benefits of saying how we feel, when we feel it? Is transparency a good thing, and should we ever consider those we work with our ‘real friends’? In a time where our electronic devices listen to our conversations, record keystrokes, and store our opinions about products, events, and society, it’s important to contemplate freedom of speech, and the significance of truth telling in an age of misinformation. On this show we’re talking about the truth - and how to draw the boundary between professional and private existence. Our conversation opens with the controversial topic of ‘LinkedIn for Dating’, highlighting the differential norms of each generation’s communication styles online, especially on social media. We also discuss the implications of ‘cancel culture’ and whether or not it’s a good idea to be fully authentic at work. This episode contains offensively creative language and some content that may be deemed inappropriate for younger audiences.
