People unnecessarily parse John 6 into the feeding of the 5,000, the questions about communion, Jesus being rejected for hard teaching, Jesus walking on the water, etc. Sometimes we over complicate chapter 6. It is a singular story about the rejection of the Gospel but those who hear from a Messiah something that was not what they wan ted to hear. The Gospel stings. It elevates God and humbles man. It’s an offence to many, a joke to others. Jesus lays it out for the masses and most of them reject Him.
