Listen "Utopia Early Music"
Episode Synopsis
This throwback episode goes all the way back to the 1600s! We had a bright blue, 9 foot long harpsichord with wooden keys delivered to the studio especially for our guests UTOPIA EARLY MUSIC of Salt Lake City, Utah. The ensemble is an ever-changing guard of musicians that perform Medieval, Renaissance and Baroque music. Sometimes they dress up in period garb for their historically informed concerts but, sadly, they didn’t this day—maybe next time!
UTOPIA EARLY MUSIC: EMILY NELSON (soprano), CHRISTOPHER LECLUYSE (tenor), LISA CHAUFTY and MIYO AOKI (recorder), PAMELA JONES (harpsichord)
Repertoire: Henry Purcell from Diocletian: “Chaconne Two in one upon a ground” and “How Pleasant is this Flow'ry Plain and Grove”; Johann Sebastian Bach “Sheep May Safely Graze”; Francesco Barsanti “Sonata in C for Recorder and Continuo”; Claudio Monteverdi from Incoronazione di Poppea: “Pur ti miro”
