Listen "Kate MacLeod"
Episode Synopsis
Kate MacLeod writes songs. Good ones. And sometimes people hear her songs before they hear her—that’s because other performers love to sing them too. They’ve been featured on National Public Radio, heard on “A Prairie Home Companion” and covered by recording artists from California to the Czech Republic.
Still, there is something magical about hearing a song performed by the person who wrote it. That’s the magic we’re about to share with you now. In this episode she performs her original songs inspired by books and featured on her latest album “Kate MacLeod: At Ken Sanders Rare Books.”
Kate MacLeod has opened for artists Rosanne Cash, Dan Fogelberg and Greg Brown. She makes music with her voice, guitar, violin and harmonica, and sings and performs concerts of her own across the country. Her songwriting style and live performances display an unbreakable link between traditional music and cutting-edge contemporary songwriting.
She takes inspiration from the places she’s lived, like Harper’s Ferry, West Virginia and the red rock wonders of Utah, and where her daughters live—a place tucked into the Northwest corner of the country near Seattle.
