Listen "Growing in Sanctification"
Episode Synopsis
In this episode we are diving into sanctification and what that means in our faith journey. The definition of sanctification is the action of making or declaring something holy; the action or process of being freed from sin or purified. This sounds a little like repentance and they definitely go hand-in-hand, but they’re different. In the process of sanctification, you are becoming more holy, more Christ-like. You’re turning away from past sins because you have learned through time in His Word and having the Holy Spirit dwelling within you, guiding you to repentance. And in repentance, you’re asking forgiveness for those past sins in order to walk away from them and be changed in so many ways.
The process of sanctification or being sanctified doesn’t happen overnight and it also doesn’t happen without any effort on our part. We have to grow in our relationship with God by reading our Bible daily and praying without ceasing. This is a progressive process and it never ends - we’re constantly growing. We’re also human so we’ll never be without sin which is why we also need repentance. But we have to live in obedience to God, trust Him and His plan for our lives and surrender fully to Him.
We pray that God would wrap His arms around each of you. That He would draw you near to Him, changing your hearts & minds and that He would help you turn away from your sins just as He has done and is still doing for us.
Scriptures referenced in this episode:
1 Thessalonians 5:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-7; the book of 1 Peter (for several references to being exiled); 2 Corinthians 7:1
