From 1997 (when the UK last won) to 2004 he was a volunteer reporter for local radio stations, where he became friends with the Icelandic delegation. He worked on some of their songs and wrote publicity for their acts, translating the song into various languages. From 2005 onwards he was a researcher and commentator assistant for Iceland and wrote lyrics for their 2007 and 2008 entries as well as songs for albums the artists then released. From 2016 he was a researcher for the international commentators, presenting trivia about each year's contestants to help fill ten hours of television.
