Episode Synopsis

This week, Steve chats to Dr Kerstyn Comley and Suzi Godson, Co-Founders of MeeToo, the free anonymous app for young people to access peer support and expert mental health help. MeeToo is a free, anonymous, fully moderated app for young people, which provides peer support, expert help, inbuilt educational and creative resources as well as an extensive in-app directory of self-help and specialist support. The free app makes it easy for young people to talk about difficult things. It looks and feels like social media, where young people can share worries and advice with their peers. However, it is actually 100 per cent pre-moderated by human counsellors, who can identify serious mental health or safeguarding problems at an early stage, and step in if needed. The app also features a directory of organisations, wellbeing resources, podcasts and TED talks that can provide further support. MeeToo provides a neutral space for young people to give each other positive feedback and social support. Research shows this approach builds confidence, increases wellbeing and promotes emotional resilience.
