June Waters is a natural born advocate and has utilized this passion of caring for others in her career as a Long Term Care Ombudsman and a CASA volunteer. June enjoys bringing people, ideas, and inspiration together and hopes to form a dialogue that shares a unique perspective from an adopted teenager. June Waters and her 3 siblings were adopted from the foster care system by the Waters family when she was 13 and grew up in Austin, Texas. June strongly hopes to encourage and empower others by sharing her story. June has always looked to help and truly be the change she wanted to see in the world. In this episode, June talks about where she first found her passion for the quality of care elderly receive while on a mission trip to Guatemala and visiting the only nursing home in the city.
She also volunteered at the orphanage there for the week. It was a truly life changing experience. June pursued a bachelors and a dual Masters in Healthcare and Business Administration (MHA/MBA) and has remained inspired after finding out shocking statistics for former foster care youth who graduate with advanced degrees. Vulnerability takes bravery and June shares personal struggles that have resulted in her finding ultimate peace, strength, and most importantly, happiness! From growing through what she’s gone through June hopes to inspire and empower others, especially former and current foster care youth, that you can dream big and accomplish what you set out to do.
