Listen "Jeremiah Part 3"
Episode Synopsis
Jeremiah was thinking that he was going to die in that miry place. He knew that God had promised that He would look after him, but it was probably a dank, dark, cold place without light and certainly without hope. God would not leave him there and raised up a deliverer, a non-Jewish man who took his own life in his hands and approached the king. He even calls the men out that did this to Jeremiah, and tells the king that they have acted wickedly. Usually not the kinds of words you say to the king who could also put you in the cistern too. The king probably didn’t want to do that to Jeremiah, but gave no resistance to them. He was spineless and seemed to have no opinion of his own. Maybe he is pointing out to the king that although they didn’t outright kill Jeremiah, he will still die of starvation or thirst and no matter what they try to tell their consciences, that is still murdering innocent blood. This sways the king.
