Listen "Consecrate Our Church"
Episode Synopsis
Today we are looking at the consecration of our churches. Many churches and denominations that once burned bright with the glory and power of God have ceased to be. Often when man takes the place of God, we can see it shrivel up and die. He is the giver and sustainer of life. Why would we, in our earthly wisdom, ever think we would know better than God in His infinite wisdom?
1 Corinthians 1:18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written,
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And the cleverness of the clever I will set aside.”
20 Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? 21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. 22 For indeed Jews ask for signs and Greeks search for wisdom; 23 but we preach Christ crucified, to Jews a stumbling block and to Gentiles foolishness, 24 but to those who are the called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
We have seen how nations have shown God the door, trusting in their own ability or intellect. They have also seen the ramifications from that act. The nations that are based on Godly foundations have a clear, distinct history. May we never think that we know better than God. We need Him, He does not need us.
We’re looking at Joshua has moved the Nation of Israel into the Promised Land. They have followed God’s instructions and have defeated Jericho and its fortified walls. As they continue onward they come to a small city called Ai. The men tasked to check it out bring back their report.
