Arriving in New York Harbor, 20 June 1945, with thousands of US soldiers – there is a prominent degaussing coil running around the outer hull.

History of the Queen Mary

Pat explores the history of the this famous ship. The British government funded the ship with a loan and it first sailed in 1934. During WWII, the ship operated as a troopship carrying Allied soldiers, nicknamed the Grey Ghost. After its retirement, this luxury liner was moored off Long Beach, California and has been made into a hotel and tourist attraction. For a short time, Disney considered buying the ship to use as a version of the Haunted Mansion attraction.

The Debate

Rebecca and Pat debate if it is haunted. One of the most haunted hotel rooms in the world is Stateroom B340. Another popular ghost is John Pedder, a shipmate killed by Hatch 13 in the boiler room. Lastly, the ghost of a little girl named Jackie haunts several places on the ship, but her favorite place is the first class pool.
