The LORD’s turn

The Lord hurled a wind


Caused a mighty tempest

Severe enough to threaten the ship’s integrity



The Mariners were afraid


Cried out to their gods (little ‘g’)

They in turn hurl - to lessen the impact of the tempest


Jonah again messing up


All hand on deck, but you are asleep

Down again to the inner part


Confronted by the captain

Call out to your God

Your God may respond (calling out to the others has not helped?)

The Mariners are desperate

The Tempest grew worse (more and more tempestuous - like it got angry)


Mariners made a plea to the LORD


Let us not perish for this man’s life

We do not want his blood on our hands

You have done as it pleased you (this is your show)


Jonah goes overboard


Picked him up

Hurled him over the side


God hurled a wind

Mariners hurled cargo

Mariners hurled Jonah


The sea stopped raging

Mariners feared the LORD exceedingly

Mariners offered a sacrifice

Mariners made a vow
