Contemporary versus traditional. Praise versus heritage. Guitar and drums versus organ and piano. These are often the ways in which we define and categorize our worship services. Some like it “formal” and some like it “casual”. Some like it “old school” and some like us to be “the church of what’s happening now”. Unfortunately then, some will say that it has to be “this way” or “that way” for it to be “worship” whatsoever. Today we’ll remember that living the koinonia lifestyle means that we are united in our praise even though we may not be unified in our personal worship-style-preferences. Today we remember that we are “Joining Our Voices” in praise regardless of style because our praise is united in and around and even by God’s Word and the absolute center of His Word, the crucified and risen Lord Jesus.
