Accessing grace requires an understanding of the word. Understanding ensures that we comprehend and acquire a deep perception of the words that proceed out of the mouth of God as teaching. When we have this comprehension, we are enabled to draw out and apply principles from God's word into our lives, setting ourselves up for outpourings of grace.
It also becomes important to note that according to Proverbs 4:1-9, sons are expected to keep and cherish their father's teachings. The words (doctrine) from a father when understood and applied, watch over our lives, exalt us, positions us for honor, and release deposits of grace upon our lives, setting us up for glory.
