Nowadays Marvel is the biggest franchise in the world, but in the late 1990s, after years of ownership by a capitalist corporate raider, they declared bankruptcy on the back of the comic book industry crash, something that their own actions a few years before to feed the comic spectator boom had helped to create. It is a story about Marvel about as astounding and interesting as anything they have printed in one of their fantastic comics, as unlikely as it is true. This is the story of how Marvel caused the comics crash, and nearly destroyed the whole industry for good.
