Our guest today is José Hernández. José is a former NASA astronaut who served on the Space Shuttle mission STS-128 in 2009. Encouraged by President Barack Obama, Hernández ran for Congress in 2011. In 2023, Amazon Prime released a biopic titled "A Million Miles Away," chronicling José's remarkable journey from an immigrant farm worker to an engineer and astronaut. The film is based on his 2012 autobiography, "Reaching for the Stars: The Inspiring Story of a Migrant Farmworker Turned Astronaut," The book is a story of perseverance, community support, and sacrifice to achieve your dreams. Today, José is a consultant at his company Tierra Luna Engineering, and along with the help of his father, Salvador, owns a small vineyard called Tierra Luna Cellars.
