Third Sunday in Ordinary  TimeJesus is back home in the synagogue where he grew up. Many of the people there were those who knew Him, his father Joseph, and his mother Mary well. Why do the people of Nazareth and all of humanity have a hard time accepting Jesus? Because the God of the universe is closer than we want Him to be. “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
