Listen "S7E6 - Forever True"
Episode Synopsis
The concept of forever is tough to grasp. Everything about being human eventually runs into limitation. "As for the days of our lives, they contain seventy years, or if due to strength, eighty years. Yet human pride is only labor and sorrow, for soon it is gone and we fly away. Who understands the power of Your angerand Your fury, according to the reverence that is due You? So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom." - Moses in Psalm 90 There are a couple of important keys to unlocking a life of hope. The first is understanding the nature and reality of Forever. The second involves being informed in and experiencing what is True. Forever casts vision for the greatness of God and the reward of living for something better. It begins to define the deepest aspirations of any man or woman. When our minds, souls, and eventually our bodies enter the confluence of forever truth we begin to honor and appreciate the One who has created us. God and Moses in Exodus 3: God said to Moses, "I Am Who I Am" and "This you shall say to the sons of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.'" Furthermore God said to Moses, "You shall say to the sons of Israel, 'The Lord, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.' This is My name forever, and this is My memorial-name to all generations." Also note from Moses' song in Exodus 15:18: "The Lord shall reign forever and ever." So what is true is forever, and what is forever is true! Jesus' brother James commented as well. "You do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away." - James 4:4 At some point we all must face our limitations, humble our souls, and ask for help from the God of Heaven. We must be consistently washed in truth to live a trajectory culminating in eternal life, right? King David was aware of this even in the times he lived: "Then David the king went in and sat before the Lord, and he said, "Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that You have brought me this far? And yet this was insignificant in Your eyes, O Lord God, for You have spoken also of the house of Your servant concerning the distant future. And this is the custom of man, O Lord God."- 2 Samuel 7:18-19 (see also 7:22-29) In John 6:51 Jesus says: "I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My body." Forever is a part of His promise to all of God's children. It is woven throughout the Word of God, and Jesus the Son has taken center stage in opening this door. This becomes part of truth's core. What is true will last forever. Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me." (John 14:6) Our hope: He is forever true!
