Episode Synopsis
President Biden’s administration has imposed new economic sanctions on Russia, which target not just the Russian economy, but also Vladimir Putin’s two adult daughters. We learn more about that with Clayton Neville in our correspondent close-up. Later, we'll talk to Joey Garrison, White House correspondent for USA Today. House Democrats on Wednesday accused oil companies of “ripping off the American people” and putting profits before production as Americans suffer from ever-increasing gasoline prices during the war in Ukraine. John Stolnis covers that for us. Prior to the "No Surprises Act", one in five insured Americans who had surgery or visited the ER got a surprise medical bill for the difference between what their insurance will cover and what the provider will charge, often resulting in bills reaching thousands of dollars. Now – six lawsuits have been filed across the country by doctors and hospitals to try to strike down this law. We’re going to learn more about this as we’re joined by Patricia Kelmar, she’s the director of Health Care Campaigns for US Public Interest Research Group.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
