Israel was enveloped in darkness. God’s deliverance would come through a Messiah as a child who embodied the attributes of Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. They were encouraged by the prophets to hold onto faith, as the zeal and passion of the Lord would accomplish these promises, culminating in the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom and the defeat of evil.
