Using your treated melanoma eye together with your fellow better-seeing eye as soon as possible after your radiation surgery is the fastest way to visual recovery. Sometimes people find themselves wearing a patch over their treated eye because it may seem easier to get through the adjustment and transition period after surgery. However, NOT wearing an eye-patch is actually the fastest way to visual recovery - by presenting images from each eye (even if one may be inferior) to your brain for processing is the fastest way for you to get used to seeing again. Using both eyes together as soon as possible will also help you recover from post-operative double vision more quickly. Save the eye-patch for activities such as using a sharp knife, or driving somewhere unfamiliar.
