Episode Synopsis

I love Easter. I love what it represents. I love what it means for us. But 2000 years ago, they didn’t know. They didn’t realize. They couldn’t see. Yet. The Gospel of Matthew provides a unique perspective on the life of Jesus, with a heavy emphasis on the Kingdom of God. Matthew points over and over to the fact that this kingdom was not like any kingdom found on earth. In fact, it was the complete opposite. It was an upside down kingdom.
Matthew 27 is a hard chapter to read. It's not easy reading what our Savior suffered, but it's also necessary for us to press in and lean in. Matthew again points to Jesus as the fulfillment of the Old Testament and he relies on the juxtaposition of several stories to further show that Jesus is the Messiah they were waiting for. And through His death, we now have something that had not existed since the Garden of Eden: Access to the Presence of God.
