Listen "Ep. 19 | DGRS: I Am a Sinner? "
Episode Synopsis
In Christian culture, we sometimes find ourselves using words or catch phrases that "sound spiritual" but are not necessarily biblical. Emily and Alyssa tackle some of these often misplaced phrases in this series titled, "Did God Really Say...?"
In this episode we tackle, "Did God really say I am a sinner?"
In our conversation we discuss:
What is sin?
"Sin: Sinning is any feeling or thought or speech or action that comes from a heart that does not treasure God over all things." -John Piper
What do I do with the daily sin that keeps coming up again and again?
"Saints, Sinners, and Sufferers" by Michael Emlet
What is our identity and how does knowing this change the way we live?
“Everyone has a gospel story they believe. It may not be the gospel of the kingdom of God- the good news of Jesus Christ, but it is a gospel narrative nonetheless.
Creation- what do they find their identity or sense of purpose and significance?
Fall: whom or what is the fundamental problem they blame for the things that are broken in their lives?
Redemption: what or whom are they looking to as their savior to rescue and redeem them?
New creation: what does transformation look like and what is their ultimate hope for the future?”
