Listen "Hebrews 6:9-20 "God's Reliable Oath""
Episode Synopsis
In Hebrews 5:11, the author of Hebrews began to call the Hebrew Christians to greater maturity. He was concerned that they had not grown in their love and knowledge of God and what He had done. This call shifted to a warning for those who refused to grow and would end up turning away from the message of reconciliation with God through Jesus.
He returns to his exhortation by offering comfort to the Christians who remained faithful. But this comfort is not rooted in anything the faithful did; it is rooted in the nature of God.
The author has confidence that his readers will have the better things related to and connected to their salvation. HIs confidence is rooted in two truths: God is reliable and God is just. Because of this God-rooted confidence, Christians are to be anchored to the hope of their salvation and avoid laziness in their growth toward maturity.
