Palm Sunday is the day we traditionally celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem the week prior to the crucifixion and resurrection. It is a day that starkly contrasts the events that occur later that week. Today, Jesus is welcomed by crowds into the city as a conquering king, but only days later He is met with chants for his execution from the same crowds that welcomed Him. How did this come to be? Why did they reject Jesus? As we delve into the history of this event we will see how Jesus did not meet the expectations of the people, but how He superseded all expectations and ideas surrounding the Messiah, the savior from God.
