Listen "You Word is a Lamp EP. 214"
Episode Synopsis
"Your Word is a Lamp"Welcome back, friends. Today, we’re diving deep into one ofthe most foundational principles of faith, sola scriptura. It’s a phrase that sounds impressive, but really, it just means Scripture alone. No creeds, no councils, no human traditions overriding what God has already revealed. The Bible is our final authority, our roadmap, our unwavering compass in a world that seems to shift by the minute. You don’t have to look far to see the instability around us.We’re in a time of rapid change AI, quantum computing, social shifts, people are feeling the ground beneath them shake. But here’s the thing: God’s Word isn’t part of that instability. The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever (Isaiah 40:8). In a world grasping for something solid, we have an anchor. The early Christians got this. They measured everythingagainst the Scriptures. The Bereans didn’t take Paul’s word for it, they searched the Scriptures daily to see if what he said was true (Acts 17:11). And Paul didn’t rebuke them for it, he commended them. That’s our model. That’s how we avoid drifting into human traditions that seem wise but lead us away from God’s truth.Jesus made it clear in John 10:35: The Scriptures cannot be broken. They don’t need updates, adjustments, or cultural rewrites. When people say, “Well, it’s 2025; we need to move with the times,” I say, “No, we need to stay exactly where God placed us.” The Bible isn’t outdated, it’s timeless. But here’s the key: sola scriptura isn’t just about knowing the Bible, it’s about living it. James warns us that if we hear the Word but don’t do what it says, we’re deceiving ourselves (James 1:22-25). So, the real challenge isn’t just believing in the authority of Scripture, it’s applying it. In our homes, our marriages, our jobs, our everyday conversations. It’s in how we treat the cashier, the waitress, the coworker. It’s in how we train our children, how we make decisions, and how we handle adversity. So, here’s the question: Are we building on the solid rockof God’s Word, or are we letting shifting sands dictate our beliefs? Because when everything else fades, when the philosophies of the age crumble, God’s Word will still be standing. And those who stand on it will, too.
