Listen "The Secret Power of Total Surrender EP. 159"
Episode Synopsis
In just a few moments, we’ll be reading from Jeremiah 38,
starting at verse 17. So, if you have your Bibles handy, go ahead and turn there now. But before we get into the scripture, I want to ask you a question: Have you ever felt afraid, insecure, or uncertain about the future? Have life’s problems ever rocked your boat a little bit? If so, you’re not alone. We’ve all faced various health issues, employment concerns, economic uncertainties, and more. From wars and terrorism to gas prices and the housing market, it seems like there’s always something vying for our attention and causing us stress.
But here’s the good news: God has not given us a spirit of
fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Despite the overwhelming list of challenges we face, we can find peace in His promises. Philippians 4:19 reminds us that “my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” And Philippians 4:13 assures us that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Today, we’re going to explore the story of Zedekiah in
Jeremiah 38 and 39. Zedekiah faced a dilemma that many of us can relate to: trusting God’s plan even when it doesn’t make sense to our human wisdom. We’ll see how his fear and doubt led to devastating consequences, and we’ll learn how we can avoid the same pitfalls by fully surrendering to God’s will.
