Have you ever made a decision that didn’t quite pan out the way you expected based on how it looked? In Genesis 13, Lot chose to go to the land that he thought looked the best in the moment. It was well watered, it was beautiful, it was most desirable. However, it turned out that it wasn’t what it looked like. And the land he chose, that he was so excited about — was later destroyed. That’s kind of how life goes sometimes: You see an opportunity, you get excited about it; but then, it doesn’t turn out how you expected. And our first instinct is often to blame God, or to feel like we’re being punished. When in fact, we chose to settle.
