The psychological shift into retirement is real, and preparing for it is just as important. We'll talk about this today on Elevate Wealth. Hey there, I'm Deanne Rosso, and today we're going beyond dollars and cents to talk about something that many retirees don't expect, the emotional transition into retirement. I'm here with our wealth adviser, Clarke Holt. Welcome, Clarke. Thank you. So Clarke, help me explore this topic. What's going on here that surprises so many people as they approach retirement? Right. So something we don't think about, and it there is this psychological adjustment into retirement, and we spend decades working for organizations or you know maybe one company with this structure, this routine, this purpose, this interaction we have with other people, and then all of a sudden, we retire. And there's a huge adjustment going from all the from that routine to that all of a sudden you have no routine. And so it's very important to plan for that. And a lot of times this can lead to with what we've seen can lead to boredom. It can lead to anxiety. It can lead to depression, even. So you know, I think we see this a lot in our careers of leading people into this into and through this retirement journey. And you know, one thing that we notice is a few weeks into retirement, it may not feel like everything you dreamed it would be. Right. Exactly. So, how do people prepare for this? So, the good news is just with some planning and brainstorming, you can prepare early on for retirement and thinking about the things that you would want to do in retirement, whether that be involvement in your community, volunteer work, part-time work, just hobbies, things like that. And it's good to communicate with with a spouse or a partner and decide what are the things we want to do that we can where we can stay busy? And I think one thing that we also forget and that I think a lot of people want is human interaction. So having that interaction with people, even if that's a part-time job in a different field altogether. So just and I think that gives us that peace of mind and that contentment to have a full sort of positive retirement. Absolutely. That social interaction is so important. Sometimes we miss that piece when we retire. We miss that social interaction that we had in the workplace every day, and now we have to find it. Exactly. In retirement. Well, thank you Clarke. Um that's so helpful. And you know, I think for every individual and for every family that retires going through this journey is a little bit unique and a little bit different. And if there's any way that we can help you with that, we'd love to talk. Visit us at elevate-wealth.com and click "Let's talk."
