Listen "(AUDIO): Retiring U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth) discusses Tuesday election on "Wake Up Mid-Missouri""

Episode Synopsis

You’ll be casting ballots in Missouri tomorrow on constitutional amendment five, which would allow the Missouri Gaming Commission to issue one additional gambling boat license to operate on the Osage River at the Lake of the Ozarks. Amendment five spokesman John Hancock has told 939 the Eagle that the Lake of the Ozarks community desperately wants and deserves this project. Mr. Hancock says if voters approve the ballot measure, the casino would be built near the quarry on Highway 54 at the Lake of the Ozarks. He says the boat would provide about 700 good-paying, year-round jobs. Supporters say those would be union jobs, along with a new convention center and hotel. There is opposition to the measure and from some local residents who don't want the boat. U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-St. Elizabeth), who represents the Lake of the Ozarks on Capitol Hill, joined us live this morning on 939 the Eagle's "Wake Up Mid-Missouri." 939 the Eagle's Brian Hauswirth asked the congressman how he feels about the ballot measure. Congressman Luetkemeyer tells listeners that while he believes Amendment 5 will pass statewide, he doesn't like it and says locals are not happy. Congressman Luetkemeyer tells listeners that the Lake of the Ozarks is a family destination for families. Congressman Luetkemeyer also discussed the presidential election during the live interview and blasted the Harris-Walz Democratic ticket, saying he served with then-Congressman Walz on Capitol Hill and that Walz didn't do his homework. Congressman Luekemeyer also blasted the national news media for its coverage of the presidential election:
