Listen "Chesterfield: New ownership sparks return EFL"
Episode Synopsis
Club 14 of 92 is Chesterfield. North Derbyshire's Chesterfield has a storied history of League football, but back-to-back relegations saw them slip into non-League for the first time in nearly 100 years in 2018. And it's not been smooth sailing off the pitch either. The recent decades have seen financial difficulties, an imprisoned former owner, and heroic fan-led organisations bailing the club out. As of this season, however, they are back in the EFL, and back under new ownership. In this podcast, we hear from Phil Kirk, one half of the Chesterfield-supporting brothers who have recently taken a majority stake in the club. We also hear from CEO John Croot, who's been with the club through the good times and bad.You can read Daniel's write-up of his trip to Chesterfield here.
