Listen "Cryoablation"
Episode Synopsis
Paul J. Wang, MD is the co-inventor of Cryoablation with Dr. Peter Friedman, MD, PhD. He is being interviewed about his technique, developed in the late 1980's. Cryoablation is a cutting-edge medical procedure that involves using extremely cold temperatures to destroy abnormal tissues or tumors. During the procedure, a specialized probe is inserted into the targeted area, delivering freezing temperatures to the tissue. This rapid freezing causes the cells to crystallize and ultimately die off, effectively removing the unwanted tissue. Cryoablation offers several advantages, including minimal invasiveness, shorter recovery times, and reduced risk of complications compared to traditional surgical methods. It is increasingly used in various medical specialties, including oncology, cardiology, and dermatology, revolutionizing the treatment landscape for patients with tumors or other abnormal tissue growths.
