Listen "Interview with Holly MacDonald"
Episode Synopsis
Holly tells us how her and her husband decided to leave Vancouver in 2007 and to live a simpler, cheaper rural life style. After considering a lot of different factors they chose Salt Spring. Her husband maintained his existing employment allowing Holly the opportunity to simultaneously move and start her own business: providing e-learning and training development services. This business has changed and grown over the years, but she has done very well, better than she first thought she could when living remotely on an island. Holly says that she can be super productive working at home but has struggled with loneliness and motivation issues at time. In her role with the Salt Spring Island Community Economic Development Commission she has seen more and more digital workers making the decision to put lifestyle first and move to Salt Spring (or wherever else in the world their heart wishes)
